It is the soldier…

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us Freedom of the Press; it is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us Freedom of Speech; it is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate; it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, that allows the protester to burn the flag.

It is the soldier… — 2 Comments

  1. Soldiers, different races, different religions, different nationalities, ethnic backgrounds, male, female, a veritable melting pot of humanity, yet all united fighting, ready and willing to lay down their lives for one common cause, liberty and justice for all. Pretty amazing what we can do when we put aside our differences and work together …

  2. Very beautiful words, Connie. Thank you. And, as usual, it’s raining on this Veterans Day, as it does on Memorial Day, as well – – almost like clockwork. I liken it to the Heavens crying for the men and women who have given their lives for our country.
