As I awaited the live coverage of the moon crash this morning, I heard the announcement of the Nobel Peace Prize winner. What?? In the same breath as Mother Teresa? Yeah, no, I don’t think so. On a list with the likes of Elie Wiesel, Martin Luther King, and Georges Henri Pires? The rocket crashed on my head instead of on the moon.
It seems out of sorts to me that a commander-in-chief of a military that is engaged so deeply in war, as ours is, and whose inconsistent decision-making about it prompts a lot of head-shaking, can be awarded a peace prize. I just don’t get it. I don’t see here what warrants winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Too soon, too fast. Shouldn’t they have waited? After all, actions speak louder than words. What was the Norwegian Nobel Committee thinking?
That’s just it, you answered the qustion – The Norwegian Nobel Committee was not thinking!
OMG
The first thing I thought was how can they group this man with Mother Teresa
Connie:
I totally agree with you. I was outraged to hear of Obama’s award this morning, as well! Someone has been paid off – – royally!! It just seems that all credibility in this world is just melting away into oblivion. The sheer value of things has become absolutely meaningless. The timing, of course, is so tacky that I hardly have words to describe my feelings. This whole thing is positively humiliating! It’s as if the world has gone completely mad and I’m the only one (except for a few good friends, like yourself) who seems to notice.

Yes, Houston, there IS a problem! What were they thinking?? When I think Nobel Peace Prize, I don’t think Obama. Such a prestigious honor going to whom, for what??? What did he do that qualifies him for that?? His duties as President?? What in the world is going on here?? It’s all the talk here at the office, too. You’d think the Dolphins won the Super Bowl or something! Why all the hoopla and the rejoicing for him? Is this yet another case of putting our trust in man? Do people think he’s going to do a better job as President because of this? I’m sorry to say but we have just lowered the standards for something so prestigious — reserved for those who go above and beyond the call of duty to perform acts for humanity and for the greater good. Sorry to go on and on but I just don’t get it…
Very true…we are quick to judgement without knowing that will happen.
While I respect our President, I do believe the Nobel Committee jumped the gun on this one. They should have waited until promises are brought to fruition and we see some results. I can think of a whole bunch of people that truly deserved this honor, at least this time around …
Didn’t you hear… I heard they were drinking!!! not Thinking!!!!
