For the inexplicable gifts God sends my way, because I’ve learned that down the road their purpose becomes clear.
For me, it’s like the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit we Catholics receive when we get confirmed — wisdom, understanding, right judgment, courage, knowledge, reverence, piety (in case you were wondering) — you can’t quite grasp their concept or use at that age; I sure didn’t. That has changed throughout the years. I’ve felt God release on me certain of those gifts as the need arose. I suspect as I get older (like soon to happen over 50 older) I’ll have reason to exhaust each and every one of them. It’s nice to know the good ole Holy Spirit’s got my back. It’s good to believe.
What gifts have become clear to you?
Giver of gifts, thank you.
When I was young and knew nothing,
I asked for the sun.
You gave me a candle
which I put in my pocket,
and now… a lifetime later,
I found the match.
