Thankful for those decades-old friendships. Those friends I’ve known for most of my life. The ones who saw me with acne on my face; the ones who knew me before I was a wife and a mother. They who remain ever-present and they with whom, no matter how much time passes between us spending time together, I still connect like if it was yesterday. You know who you are. Thank you for sticking with me to this very day. It’s immensely comforting to know I have you in my life. Surely, God has blessed me with great friends.
“In friendship…we think we have chosen our peers. In reality a few years’ difference in the dates of our births, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another…the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting–any of these chances might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking no chances. A secret master of ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,” can truly say to every group of Christian friends, “Ye have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another.” The friendship is not a reward for our discriminating and good taste in finding one another out. It is the instrument by which God reveals to each of us the beauties of others.”
~C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
“We’ll be friends ‘til we’re old and senile.
Then we’ll be new friends.”
Friends, what are you thankful for today?
Love u Con!! 🙂
Love you too, Mimi!
OMG!! I’m teary-eyed. I’m also thankful for our friendship and having known you back when I was wearing one earring and teasing my hair (the horror!). I sent this to Rosa so she can see how great your blog is and how amazing you are. Feel better my friend and put some meat on those bones!
Love, Vicky
Let’s have lunch more often now that Ray is not downtown.
Our meeting yesterday prompted this post. Had a great time my friend. We’ll definitely do it more often. I know how much you like your bowls. LOL.
Amiga! Your posts always make my soul smile. Sending prayers, hugs and blessings.
