For our warriors and the peace they serve to protect and defend. As I hold in my hands this poignant edition of The Miami Herald published 75 years ago today (another one of Mom’s archived treasures), I cringe at the reminder of the countless souls lost to war, past and present, and of the brave men and women putting their lives at risk for me every day.
It is my prayer that this great nation of ours works together for peace, democracy, and freedom around the world, so that the bleeding stops and we never again find ourselves facing a newspaper cover like this one, or live through another date which would live in infamy.
For our warriors and the peace they serve to protect and defend, I am grateful.
What are you thankful for?
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
-Albert Einstein
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
–G.K. Chesterton
“A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”
-Ecclesiastes 3:8
Take time to thank a soldier for their service to this great country of ours. Love God, respect this country and our “flag”.
Amen to all of the above! May we all be blessed with kinder hearts so that in turn we may all enjoy more peace all around us.
Thank you Connie.
May God bless this great nation and the men and women who sacrifice their lives for the freedoms we enjoy!
I pray that God guides the heart and hands of those in power, that we as a nation never again have to experience the burdens and destruction of war. That our children and their families can live in a free and peaceful world.
