For human decency. I love to be on the receiving end of politeness, thoughtfulness, compassion, good will, tolerance, and forgiveness, don’t you? Let’s bring decency back into fashion, pretty please! We champion so many causes. Save the trees! Save the whales! Save the ice caps! Sure, I’m all for the environment, don’t get me wrong. I love the outdoors. My husband, kids, and I are huge fans of the National Parks. If you know us, then you know that we’ve been on a national park quest since the 90’s and continue to be. We visit them, we donate, we recycle, we do our part. But, can we forget about the trees for a little while and focus on decency? It’s being squeezed out, lost among the insults and disrespect, the stealing, the vandalism, the assaulting, the road rage…¡qué locura! And all we do is point fingers and displace blame for the toxic state of our society. We continue on the path of destruction with total disregard for self-accountability. You would think that since Adam and Eve, give or take a day, we would’ve had enough time to practice how to get along, but, obviously, that perk known as “free will” turned out to be “un arma de doble filo,” a double-edged sword. I mean, people, c’mon, if there’s no one there, to begin with, when the tree falls, how are we going to know if it really makes a sound [wink, wink]? Do we want to be around to save the environment? Let’s save human decency first! I’m just saying.
What are you thankful for today?
“Discipline yourself and others won’t need to.”
-John Wooden
“The best place for discovering what a man is is the heart of the desert. Your plane has broken down, and you walk for hours, heading for the little fort at Nutchott. You wait for the mirages of thirst to gape before you. But you arrive and you find an old sergeant who has been isolated for months among the dunes, and he is so happy to be found that he weeps. And you weep, too. In the arching immensity of the night, each tells the story of his life, each offers the other the burden of memories in which the human bond is discovered. Here two men can meet, and they bestow gifts upon each other with the dignity of ambassadors.”
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
-Mother Teresa
“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”
-Philosophical thought that makes us crazy.
Amen. If we would treat each other with respect and decency , the taking care of our planet will follow
Well said. Everyone is too busy being angry these days. Take a step back and just breathe. Don’t let yourself get lost in the turmoil.
Totally agree, we need to step away from anger and focus on kindness, decency and embrace respect.
So true! One by one we can make a difference!
I am thankful that some of us still live by The Golden Rule….do unto others as you would have others do unto you…treat others the way you want to be treated…and by all means…..
R E S P E C T one another. If we all do our part…I am hopeful that this country can turn things around!
