It seems there is a national day for everything. Yesterday was the one for siblings. And so I want to give a shoutout to mine, with much gratitude.
Allow me some quick words about them:
My sister was 10 years my senior. She was a beautiful soul who taught me many things. Among them, about loyalty and friendship. But I’ll tell you how she left her mark on me. I witnessed an awful disease bring out in her a level of courage only attainable through grace. If you follow my blog at all, you have probably read about my sister and her battle with cancer. I will spare you the painstaking details of that here, and just will say that I do not ever want to have to dig for that kind of courage; the thought of it scares me. I was blown away by the spiritual fortitude she exhibited. It left a mark on me, seared into my memory. From my sister, I learned about loyalty, friendship and courage.
I cannot recall him not sharing with me, ever. His things, his time. He’s had a passion for flying since he was a boy and, by the time he was a teenager, I was his make-believe co-pilot sitting in front of a giant cockpit poster going through a flight checklist. When I was 12, I became his first real-life co-pilot when he obtained his license and realized his dream. I don’t recall a negative word said about him, ever. His kindness overflows in everything he does. I don’t recall him not listening when I have needed to talk, ever. He has been a constant figure of comfort in my life. I don’t recall fighting with my brother, ever. I think back, but only remember good memories. From my brother, I learned about sharing, kindness…and flying.
Two siblings. Two unique and wonderful relationships. Two amazing blessings. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Cheers to your siblings. May you enjoy them!
What are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.

Beautiful, Connie! I remember your sister fondly. Also, your brother is a wonderful person. We may not be sisters, but I think of you as one. Throughout the years, you have always been there for me in good times and in bad. I remember our Santo Domingo missions with much love. Love you lots, Liani
Love this, Connie! What a beautiful tribute to your siblings. I don’t recall ever fighting with my 3 brothers either but I do remember that I got away with a lot since I was the only girl AND the youngest!! Sending prayers and much love to all 3 of them this day and always. God bless you
Beautiful.
Beautiful message Connie. And yes, siblings are indeed wonderful. I too have been blessed with siblings and I am thankful for all of them. Unfortunately I’ve lost two of them, but I still have four more I can count on and be loved by. In fact, I just had a wonderful three week trip to Buenos Aires with my beloved sister Rocio. Just the two of us, and it was great. One of her daughters joined us for a week and it made the trip even nicer.
I am happy for you that you have that bond with your siblings. Definitely some to be treasured.
Have a great week.
Un abrazo,
JG 🤗
