I find myself engulfed in luxuries. Among them, arroz con huevos fritos.
Well, a luxury would be anything that causes one to savor a moment and stir up gratitude, no? So, yes, in my world, a plate of white rice and fried eggs fits that definition.
Okay, on a meaningful note, though, I realize that my most profound and real luxuries are intangibles. Those things that cannot be bought. Like a home full of love, like good friends and being at peace with those around me. Like slow mornings and a calm mind. Like really, really feeling my faith. All necessities, if you will. In these ways, I am rich beyond measure. I know you, too, have your own list of true luxuries. How ´bout health? That is the lottery winner right there.
But, to our detriment, sometimes the most significant aspects of our daily lives are overshadowed by superficial and materialistic pursuits. And although going after our goals and what we desire can be fulfilling, we must be real – – our time on earth is limited. For my speed readers: Our.Time.On.Earth.Is.Limited. I cannot stress enough the importance of investing it, first and foremost, in the meaningful things.
Let me challenge your thoughts for a minute. Stop reading this and visualize your real luxuries. 3, 2, 1, go!……
Great, well done. Now, what are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday´s post…si Dios quiere.
“Don’t look for luxury in watches or bracelets, don’t look for luxury in villas or sailboats!
Luxury is laughter and friends, luxury is rain on your face, luxury is hugs and kisses.
Don’t look for luxury in shops, don’t look for it in gifts, don’t look for it in parties, don’t look for it in events!
Luxury is being loved by people, luxury is being respected, luxury is having your parents alive, luxury is being able to play with your grandchildren. Luxury is what money can’t buy.”
-C. Eastwood
“The greatest use of a life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.”

Waking up to my husband making us coffee every morning. That’s a solid luxury.
Can you believe I said husband? 😆
Yes! Thank God for the times of refreshment where we can rest easy.
