An “Epic” ride with the Best Crew!
Ray and I are beyond proud of all the time we’ve spent with Lauren and Danny. From toddlers to their twenties, we made sure to travel as a family—not because we had to (huge shoutout to the abuelas, tíos, and tías who were always there to help), but because we wanted to. Travel is its own kind of education, and it’s been incredible to share that with them. Now, they’re both amazing travelers in their own right.
They’ve stuck by us through it all—juggling schedules, making sacrifices, and lots of planning. Was it always easy? Nope. But looking back, it was so worth it. There were definitely moments of helicopter parenting (guilty as charged!), but we did what we thought was best. Now, we’re stepping back, giving them space, and cheering them on from the sidelines (with occasional unsolicited advice, of course).
With them older, Lauren and Kevin’s busy lives and Danny and Lauren Ashley in Texas, we don’t get to all be together much. So, when the chance for a long weekend at Universal Studios came up, especially with the opening of Epic Park, we jumped at it. What parent wouldn’t want to stand in a sea of sweaty, sun-baked people on park opening day?
Well, it was a lot of fun, but much more than that, it was special. It reminded us that while life changes, some things stay the same. The love, the laughter, the joy of being together… that’s always there. Last weekend brought that feeling home.
And in a world where “my body, my choice” is the norm, we look back with deep gratitude that we chose life—twice. Being parents to Lauren and Danny is the greatest gift we’ve ever received.
Yup. One heck of an epic ride—and we wouldn’t trade it for anything. So very grateful.
I highly recommend it, my friends. Spend as much time as you can with your kiddos.
What are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.

Loved every second we got to spend with you and Jose! Especially when your eyes lit up like the little kids you were after some rides! Till next time, (but this time at Disney), porque dios quiere.
Very cool trip and beautiful family! Your daughter is the spitting image of you.
I am blessed to have 1 daughter and we are going to check out Epic soon.
Best to you and yours,
Kelli ❤️
Sounds like you had a great time, Connie. Quality time, especially. Have a great weekend.

This one got some tears out of me. 🥹 I am beyond grateful you guys went along for the ride🎢. Another one for the books. I pray I get to spread the love of travel to our future kids, God willing. It’s one of the main reasons I’m excited for the little rugrats 😉. Also to have grandma and grandpa jumping on the band wagon with us. Love you both to infinity and beyond 💫. It was an epic 4 days!
