Happy New Year!
The start of a new year always makes me pause, even if only for a hot minute, to reflect on the people and places that have carried us through. As we step into 2026, my hope is that it brings good health, lots of laughter, love, and moments we’ll look back on and smile.
A few years ago, I wrote about our kitchen being the heart of our home. (Click here for a recap). And that hasn’t changed. For almost four decades, it has seen it all. It’s where we’ve celebrated the happy stuff, worked through the hard stuff, and gathered together through just about every season of life.
Recently, that same kitchen held a particularly special moment. Standing right there, our daughter shared the sweetest news. As many of you already know, she and Kevin will soon be three. 💕
A few days later, they shared the same news with Danny and Lauren Ashley while they were visiting from Texas. Same kitchen. Same joy. Same happy tears.
It’s funny how certain places become so more than just rooms.
So as this new year begins, I’m especially grateful for the heart of our home and for the new little heartbeat that will soon be part of it. And I’m grateful for a God who meets us in ordinary places and fills them with meaning, reminding us that every new beginning is a gift.
What are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.
