They light it up for communist China, for Sinatra’s birthday, and for the introduction of blue M&Ms, but they refuse to sport on this landmark the colors of a saintly Nobel Prize winner? Really?
I know, I know, complaining about something as trivial as lights when connected to this exceptional individual is absurd. I personally don’t need a building spectacle to remind me of her life’s work, and she certainly wouldn’t want this honor to begin with, I think. But it’s the principle of the matter. Why choose to honor an oppressive regime and not quite possibly the greatest humanitarian the world has ever seen? Head-scratching I tell you…
See: No lights for Mother Teresa
At the risk of sounding like a cynic, hmmmm, let’s see, Communist China, we do a LOT of business with them, what’s a little repression when there’s beaucoup bucks to be made, Sinatra’s CDs sell like hotcakes and blue M&Ms ditto … so, there’s money to be made in promoting and lighting up the skies with them. No money to be made off Mother Theresa. She dedicated her life to the poor. No money to be made there. See a pattern here? As you say trivial, but bothersome nonetheless.
