10 car pile-up, SUV banged up, hassles with insurance company, work day wasted….Ugh, what an inconvenience and headache! BUT, my husband came out without a scratch, as did the other drivers. And for that, we are very thankful, Lord.
Later at the body shop, he asks for his long-time friendly auto repair guy, and is told he died from a massive heart attack a short while back. He was 41. Yeah, we’ll take the hassles, headaches, and inconveniences any day. Perspective on steroids, my friends.
We pray for John’s soul and for his family.
What are you thankful for today?
“One of life’s best coping mechanisms is to know the difference between an inconvenience and a problem. If you break your neck, if you have nothing to eat, if your house is on fire – then you’ve got a problem. Everything else is an inconvenience. Life is inconvenient. Life is lumpy. A lump in the oatmeal, a lump in the throat and a lump in the breast are not the same kind of lump. One needs to learn the difference.”
-R. Fulghum
“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”
– A. Lincoln
Enjoyed this Rx reminder of what is truly important. I’m glad your husband was okay.
Thanks, Roxy!
So glad to hear that Ray is ok as well as the rest of the people involved in this accident. Yes, I have also had a recent experience where putting things in prospective was a lesson well learned. Thank you for reminding me again of what is truly important.
Thank you, Mary.
Sorry to hear about this, but glad your husband is okay. Connie, this came at the precise moment. I went through a pretty stressful situation yesterday and as much as it almost broke my spirit, I kept in mind that yes, as hard as it is to accept the fact, inconveniences are blessings in disguise, and most importantly, even when we think we have it bad, others have it worse. Blessings!
P.S. I was fortunate that my situation ended with a happy ending. 🙂
I’m very glad your husband is okay! Thanks for illustrating a very important difference.
Thank you!

Thanks, Amiga. Looking forward to those brownies. Big hug.
Oh, man, Amiga! So glad he is okay! Sending love, hugs and prayers your way. And he definitely gets his very own pan of brownies for the holidays … Or sooner! Blink of an eye, Amiga, life changes in the blink of an eye. Love the “lump” quote.
