“Here’s to strong women: May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.”
With Women’s History Month in full swing, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the incredible women in my life—those who stand beside me and those who live on in my heart, guiding me with the wisdom they left behind.
I think especially of my mom, who may be gone, but I swear she has a direct line to my brain. She pops into my thoughts like an unsolicited GPS, rerouting me when I’m headed in the wrong direction. There’s a little piece of her in everything I do.
I also find myself thinking of my sister, my first friend, who will always be a part of me. I still hear her laughter and remember how she adored Lauren and Danny like her own. She had this effortless grace and the best sense of etiquette, always knowing how to make people feel comfortable and appreciated. I miss her every day.
Beyond them, I’m grateful for the amazing women who surround me—my mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, best friend, daughter-in-law, niece, goddaughters, and close friends. They are all strong, beautiful, and inspiring, and I’m lucky to have them in my life.
Then there’s my daughter—fierce, determined, and quietly kind in ways that sneak up on you. I can’t help but laugh, though, because just like my mom’s voice is stuck in my head, mine is now her background noise: “Recalculating… you could do it that way, but should you?” Proof that motherly wisdom (and nagging) is definitely genetic.
This month and always, I’m super grateful for the rockstar women who make my life richer and brighter. It’s like having an all-star team of wisdom and awesomeness. To each of you: thank you for being extraordinary. You make the world a better place.
What are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.
