Fall is here!
But not for us, Miami, we’ve got a little longer before good hair days make an appearance. For now, light a “Sweater Weather” candle and ponder on this story:
A wise woman who was traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry, and the wise woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his good fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But a few days later he came back to return the stone to the wise woman.
“I’ve been thinking,” he said, “I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.”

That’s gold. To have what she had within her. Just golden.
I’ve come to realize that the most valuable things we can give aren’t really things at all. It’s wisdom, kindness, service, time, generosity, a hug, a thoughtful word. The stuff that sticks.
And I’ve also learned that sometimes those gifts aren’t received the way we hope. And that’s okay. It’s not about you. It’s about where they’re at. Don’t take it personally. Keep doing your thing, and shift your energy toward those who value it.
I’m so grateful for the people in my life who carry that kind of gold, and who recognize it in others, too.
What are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.

And the rareness of kindness, nowadays, makes the gold that much more valuable. Grateful for those who still give.
Great picture of Florida fall 😂
