Just like that, we’re stepping into this holy weekend. And I find myself asking, did I make any changes that will last beyond Easter? I think so. I hope so. Still a work in progress, no doubt.
Today is Holy Thursday. A day that reminds us of humility, love, and service to others. All of which are led by a strong presence of prayer in our lives. That, I do a lot of. I pray, although not always in the conventional way. I talk to myself a lot, and more often than not, those thoughts turn into conversations with God. If I ever actually hear a response, and after I survive el susto, you’ll be the first to know. 😳 That’d be cool though.
There’s a quote I’ve always loved: “Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” Wow. Every time I read it, it challenges me. It’s one of those quotes that should be on a sticky note as a constant reminder. Feel free to print and use the one I made and posted here, lol.
Anyway, just came across this writing that I thought was worth sharing:
“Most Christians don’t reject prayer.
They just relegate it.
It’s there…
but not first.
Not central.
Not necessary until something goes wrong.
So life is driven by:
plans, pressure, responsibilities, and control.
And prayer?
It becomes the backup plan.
The emergency button.
The ‘just in case.’
But that was never the design.
Prayer was never meant to support your life.
It was meant to direct it.
Because when prayer is only a spare tire,
you may look like you’re moving…
but you’re not being led.
Be honest.
Is prayer what drives your life…
or just what you reach for when everything else fails?”
This Thankful Holy Thursday, I’m grateful for the gift of prayer. For the way it centers me. 🙏
Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire? And what are you thankful for today?
Wishing those of you who share in my faith a blessed Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter.
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.

COCO
More than ever it’s my steering wheel. Don’t know how or where I’d be without my faith.
Blessed Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday my dear friend. Thanks for the reminder and the prayer post, which I will now print and place by my desk (in the office and at home). In all honesty, and may the Lord forgive me, I must make prayer my steering wheel!
Thank you Connie. Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter as well. We have much to be grateful for.
