Once in a blue moon, this blog ventures into the sometimes dark and complicated subject of politics. Today is one of those days.
I know some are happy with this week’s election results, and some aren’t. I happen to be in the second group, although I can’t say I was surprised.
Politics is a bit of a seesaw. The power shifts, the pendulum swings, and not everyone is going to be happy with the outcome. That’s just the reality. I’m not crying, though. I know what matters. Sometimes all you can do is take a deep breath, pour yourself a cafecito, and keep moving… and praying! ☕🙏
Here’s the thing. I truly believe so much of what matters starts right at home.
Our morals, our faith, our principles, our education, our tolerance, our respect for others, and the values we pass down to our children and grandchildren shouldn’t change depending on who’s sitting in the White House or which political party is in charge.
There’s plenty we can’t control, especially in politics. We can’t depend on politicians, the government, or outside influences to teach the values that should be instilled in our homes. But we can control how we take care of our own. That’s our job. It always has been. It starts and ends at home. 🏠
If history and personal experience have taught me anything, it’s that when we leave those responsibilities entirely in the hands of outside forces, that’s when we are truly lost.
So today, I’m grateful for the freedom to vote, the freedom to speak my mind, and the reminder that we don’t have to agree on everything to continue doing our part and taking care of our own.
Friends and family, no matter what happens beyond our front doors, what we do within them still matters most. 🇺🇸
What are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.
