One more day… or one less day?
Every night before I drift off, I thank God for one more day. Then the other day, I came across this quote:
“When we understand that each day isn’t one more day, but one less, we’ll start giving more value to the things that truly matter.”
And I thought… well, darn. 😳 That’s kind of a rude awakening. Especially for those of us in our golden years!
I mentioned it to a friend and she said, “Geez, thanks. Now I feel depressed.” 😂
Okay… that was NOT my intention! But the quote has stuck with me. I still end my day thanking God for one more day, but now there’s that little thought in the back of my mind: One less day… holy moly.
It’s a little unsettling, but maybe it’s also a good reminder. We really can’t take our days, hours, minutes, or even seconds for granted. None of us knows how many we have left.
So I’ll leave you with the quote and let you decide what it means to you.
As for me, today I’m thankful for one more day. I’ll try not to think too much about the one less.
What matters most to you these days? And what are you thankful for today?
Until next Thursday’s post…si Dios quiere.
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
-Matthew 6:34
“The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
